Update...

Quick Update on the Giveaway

As many of you know I am giving away an 8x10 print of one of my own personal temple pictures that I have touched up with good old adobe.

To help clarify a little more on the rules.

  • The first person to give a somewhat narrowed down answer will be the winner!
  • You CAN guess as many times as you want, within reason of course lol.
You may have noticed my Dad left a comment... he is just as bad at keeping secrets as I am so this is probably killing him as much as it is me. He left a nice little hint for all of us...

*Hint-Something for the house & Maybe even the scrapbook*
*It is a be-lated wedding present from my Step sister & My Dad & Step Mom*

As for me I am not really sure what else it could be. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. I should be getting it in the mail within the next couple of days and I will determine a winner. YAY!

I have also added a new picture to the winners choices. Here is the link to that picture. This picture is a picture of the Salt Lake Temple, just in case you did not know.

Anyhow... good luck to you all and keep the guesses coming!

Who Can Guess What Is In The Mail...

Summer Opportunities...

Ok... I would like to start out by saying I am not very good at surprises. I was the kid that found all of her Christmas presents way before they were wrapped and became an expert "re-wrapper" when they were already under the tree. What can I say I get curious.

Any how my Dad and Step Mom have sent Ryan and me a large and rather expensive gift. I asked my dad if he was sending himself... he just laughed and said "I wish sweetheart" this was also followed by other slap stick humor that only my Dad and I think are funny.

I cannot figure out what is being sent to me to save my life... it is currently in the mail and I should have the answer for you soon but would like to take this opportunity to give away some of my photography.

If you can guess what is in the mail you can pick one of these three temple pictures printed on an 8x10.

Picture 1
, Picture 2 & Picture 3
(The first picture is of the Jordan River Temple, second picture is of the Denver, Co. Temple and the third picture is of the St. George Temple... for those of you who were wondering.)

If for some reason you cannot view these pictures just let me know and I will see what I can do.

Good luck!

Danielle

Dear Readers...

So it is a little late at night and I did something without thinking...
Ever happen to you?

I need your help. As you can see I have changed my page... and forgot to save all of my friends and families blog links to my page... I know silly of me to do. So if you could help a girl out and leave me a comment on my page saying hello I would greatly appreciate it.

This is actually a good opportunity for me to see who ACTUALLY reads my blog. See I am not sure if you have noticed but I do not receive very many comments... maybe one or two an entry... which leads me to believe that maybe no one, besides me, reads my blog.

Feeling forgotten...

Your friend,
Danielle

Yet Another Disappointment

So Close Yet So Far Away...

Well... We are not headed to Palmyra today to see the temple and check out the sites. Ryan got home super late last night from work and next thing you know we are looking at the clock as we finally hit the sheets and it reads, 2:34. We woke up a little late to say the least.

I was really looking forward to going but Ryan promises that next weekend we will go since we haven't gone this month yet. I am finding out how much harder it is to attend when you don't have a temple super close near by.

(This is my sad face... give me 10 seconds I
will forget all about whatever I was sad about)

So I promise next weekend I will have posts about our trip to Palmyra with pictures to match.

Today however we are planning on spending time with our good friends Amanda and Nathan. As usual the girls figure out what we are all doing and the guys show up looking good. lol. I'm thinking maybe some dinner at Uno's and the movie Get Smart. What do you think???

Any Suggestions?!?! Seriously... running out of steam.

Finally A Reasonable Decsion!

This last week or so has been... well... rather uneventful. Here is what we have done.

Monday:

Ryan had the day off so we went here.

We went to the Great Sacandaga Lake which, for you Tri-City folk, was about the width of the Columbia River.

We finally got to the park and this is the first sign we saw... "No Bathing"... first thing to pop into my mind was "No problem!" Since there was a thunder and lightening storm coming soon we decided to make our visit short and head on back. Oh well... at least the road trip was fun!

Thursday:

We finally decided on paint colors for the living room. I know I know... you all would love the pink to stay but the pink wall color and pretty flower boarder has to be retired.

Here is what we came up with.

I stumbled upon these paint samples from our Tru-Value hardware store. You can peel and stick the sample to your wall and they wont rip or tear. This means you can peel and stick them onto multiple surfaces or put them back and switch them out for a different colors.

The lightest brown is going to be for our ceiling and above the chair rail on the walls.

The Geishia white is for the trim, moldings and chair rail.

The medium brown is for the bottom of the chair rail.

The darker brown is the aprox. color of the the stain we are using for our hard wood floors.

*Here is a tip for painting your house*

Always get extra! You never know when you are going to need to touch up a spot on the wall and matching already existing paint is next to impossible.

Always make sure to stir the paint before painting, or your paint will come out with different tones and intensities of the color you chose.

Saturday:

We are possibly heading to the place where it all started... Palmyra New York. Ryan and I are wanting to do a session in the temple and do a little sightseeing... only a quick 2 1/2 hour drive from where we live. How fun! I am really excited and will have plenty of pictures to put up and show off.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a splendid weekend!

Dear Dad... I Miss You...

I have the most amazing father there is. Over the years he has become my best friend. I would like to tell all of you about him.

He has the best sense of humor there is and a laugh that is contagious. When he is about to get himself into trouble he has this goofy yet slightly evil laugh and a grin that goes from ear to ear. This laugh is usually accompanied by him wiggling his fingers at me attempting to tickle me.

When I was sick growing up he would make me Jello because it was the only thing I could get down my painfully swollen throat... being funny my dad would wiggle the Jello making me nauseous... we still laugh about this to this day.

My dad rocked the mullet and mexi-stach better than any other white man out there! I have the pictures to prove it... sorry dad.

He is a hard worker and has taught me how to build a home from foundation to shingles. I now know more about construction than my husband... this can be awkward at times but was a great way to get a date when I was single!

He calls me just to say hi and sometimes for no reason at all. Reminds me all of the time that I used to call more often, this is how I can tell he is in need of some quality "Danielle" time.

I treasured all of our daddy daughter dates... spending time with my dad was always fun whether it was loaded with conversation or just simply sitting next to each other basking in the silence together.

When I was little I had to tell my dad to stop smiling so much at all of my choir performances because seeing him in the audience smiling so big always made me start laughing in the middle of the song.

He went to all of the High School football and Basketball games just to watch me cheer and always wore the same jacket... the one with pins of me plastered all over it, so embarrassing.

One of my favorite moments in my life of me and my dad was when my dad looked at me after my parents divorce was final and said... "it's just you and me kid and I will always be here for you no matter what".

My dad is an amazing man and has accomplished so much in his life. He may not make the most money in the world or drive the coolest car ever, it is an ugly Ford pickup actually... stupid Fords, but he is my dad... he is my best friend... and I miss him very much. I love you Pa Pa... Happy Fathers Day from New York. This slide show is for you.

Losing You Is Like Living In A World With No Air... No Air

So I was randomly skimming through the channels last night and Ryan stumbled upon 'So You Think You Can Dance' which is a show I have been meaning to watch but never seem to know the time or channel to do so. I was so impressed by this dance that I wanted everyone to see it. They are portraying a couple who find out that he is being sent off to war.

The words of the song are stinging and make me want to cry. I laid in bed last night and a tear ran down my cheek as I marveled in the shaded silhouette of my husband who was fast asleep. I thank my Heavenly Father every night for bring him home safely so I could have opportunities like that one over and over again. Kelsey this video is for you.

If I should die before I wake, it's 'cause you took my breath away.
Losing you is like living in a world with no air, no air.

Hey Dad Look What I Found!

SNAKE!! SNAKE!!

Well today has been a pretty productive day. Ryan has been gone all day so I have been left to my own devices, this can vary from being very good to mischievous. Today was a good day. Anyhow, I was moving the trash to the street for tomorrow morning and look what I found!!! I just didn't scream or anything, surprisingly, I just went about my business (and no dad I did not touch the snake, I was very careful and stood a good distance away when taking this shot... I had to zoom in on him, besides I am sure he is not poisonous).

We had a really interesting storm last night. Two weather advisories were in affect. One was for thunder and lightening and the other was a tornado advisory. Well no tornado for us but we had a magnificent display of color in the sky with all of the lightening. I am going to go out on a limb here and say Mr. Snake was using our garbage can for shelter.

Busy Little Bee...

Yay For Productivity!

Well hello to everyone! It has been a busy couple of days and surprisingly productive as well as... rewarding! I love the feeling you get when you cross out something on your long laundry list of things to do. Here is proof of all of my hard labors.

Take down ugly shades and shutters from bedroom windows.
Replace with new curtains and sheers.

Remove stain off of hard wood floors.

Take down bedroom ceiling fans and replace with new remote control ones.

Start taring down front porch.

Work on front and back gardens.

(By popular demand... here is a picture of our humble abode)

As you can see... my last week or so has been loaded with lots of things to do and some of which are not anywhere near being completed (i.e. hardwood floors).

( These door knobs are one of my favorite features about this house... a little elbow grease and they will look like their old selves again!)

I am now taking suggestions for our wall paint. I am wanting something sophisticated as well clean. Take a gander and some of the choices and tell me what you think!

Here are our current color selections... none of which are staying!

Living room:

(Yes the flower boarder must go!)

Dinning room:

Bedroom 1:

Master Bedroom:

Don't you love the color choices?!?!
